Abby Simpson, LPC – Tulsa Counselor for Elementary Children
Raising a child can be challenging, especially when they have problems with their behavior, attention, or mood or when there are difficulties at home or at school. If problems go untreated, children can develop low self-esteem, perform poorly at school, have troubling relationships with friends and family, or not live up to their potential. Through counseling with Abby, your child will develop coping skills, learn to regulate their emotions, and improve their communication skills so they can better express their thoughts and feelings. Abby can also provide assistance to parents to enhance their parenting skills with their children.
Abby graduated with her Master’s in Counseling from Oral Roberts University in 2009, and has been working with children and families for over ten years. She has specialized expertise in evaluating and treating a wide range of developmental and mental health concerns including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, adjustment difficulties, anger, depression, and behavioral disorders. She has gained a variety of experience and knowledge from working in different settings, such as an inpatient mental health hospital, a community mental health agency, and in an elementary school. Abby is a creative and caring person who is passionate about helping others to improve their quality of life and succeed in their goals. Abby utilizes a variety of techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, talk therapy, play therapy, relaxation, and other expressive therapies. Her creative and integrative approach to therapy allows her to meet clients at their level and help them achieve success in a comfortable and safe environment.
