Do you unheard, invisible, alone, like you’re a burden, or not good enough? Do you sometimes even wish you were dead or that family would be better off without you? Have you been told that you are nothing and are not going to succeed in life? Do you hate yourself or feel that your life doesn’t have value?
If you are longing to feel needed, heard, understood, and accepted, but fear holds you back, or you are afraid of rejection, I understand. Depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, anger, trauma, domestic violence, grief and loss, relationship issues, and chronic suicidal thoughts keeps us paralyzed. Sometimes we need someone to walk with us; to guide us to help us be more confident and feel validated. If you are longing to overcome your insecurities so that you can feel peace and REALLY feel connected with others, then I can help you. After a while, it’s easy to begin thinking that nothing will help, but counseling really can make a difference.
I know from my own path of recovery from trauma and domestic violence that healing can occur. Through mental health counseling I can help you feel secure and confident to handle life situations again. I can teach you how to be assertive, set healthy boundaries when you need to say no, and feel at peace within yourself. I truly believe that people can be happy and love life again, even after major struggles in life.
By using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), we will work together to evaluate and challenge your negative beliefs and replace them with healthier ways of thinking. Changing the way you think often allows you to act in healthier ways. Through counseling you will begin to think and behave in renewed and healthier ways and be able to enjoy family, friends, and your life again.
When counseling people, I want them to feel comfortable to be themselves, to feel open to discuss their thoughts and feelings. My clients often tell me that feel that can say things they wouldn’t say to anyone else…they know that I’m willing to REALLY listen to their story and not judge them. I work best with men and women who are about 25 years and older; I also work well with couples. I also work really well with veterans and their spouses. I am familiar with the military culture, as I am a disabled veteran, am a spouse and am a mother of a veteran. I also have specialized training about military culture.
If you can relate to any of these struggles, then I would love to have the opportunity to help you on your journey to more hope and happiness. Call me 539-777-1129 to schedule a free consultation to see if this would be a good fit for you.
On a more personal note, I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I believe through the Holy Spirit, healing can occur in counseling. I am in need of His grace daily. My goal in counseling is to respect people of all faith backgrounds and not to push any of my personal beliefs on you. If your Christian faith is a source of support (or even one of the factors that contributes to your pain), I am happy to incorporate faith into our sessions and to explore how faith helps or hinders you.
