A SUPPORTIVE SKILL-BUILDING GROUP FOR ADULT MEN AND WOMEN WITH CHRONIC PAIN AND ILLNESS
Are you struggling with managing your chronic pain or illness? Do you feel like a failure because you can’t contribute like you used to? Do you miss your “old self?” Imagine if you could manage your pain and illness better so that you can work, cook dinner, play with your kids, resume your hobby…get back to your “old self!” With support from others who have “been there” and learning skills to help you manage your energy and thoughts, you can learn to manage the effects of pain/illness better. Are you ready to learn how to LIVE your life with chronic pain/illness?
This supportive skill-building group can teach you some of the most important skills for managing your chronic physical pain/illness and helping you LIVE WELL WITH CHRONIC PAIN/ILLNESS. This ongoing, every other week group is for adult men and women who have at least one chronic pain/illness condition and who have been struggling with chronic pain/illness for at least 6 months.
In this group, you will get support from others who understand what it’s like to walk in your shoes and learn several skills that are evidence-based and scientifically shown to help you enjoy life…even though you have chronic pain/illness. The skills you will learn include: how thoughts, behaviors, and emotions affect pain and what to do about it, relaxation strategies to ease pain, pacing and how it can prevent the “push-crash-burn” cycle, how to make plans for “flare days”, how to prevent relapse and get support from others with chronic pain. You’ll also get a binder with handouts.
This ongoing group meets every other Tuesday, beginning January 14, 2020 from 11:45-12:45. Intakes and registration are required. Group investment: $40 per group session. Complete the form below to register for an initial intake.
