Virtual Teens Emotional Wellness Group

In this group, your teen will get support from others who understand what it’s like to be a teen who experiences anxious and/or depressed moods. The topics and skills are based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) theories.
The topics and skills you will learn include:
-Adolescent development
-The role of emotions
-What causes and maintains cycles of anxiety and depression
-How our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact and how they impact anxiety and depression
-Relaxation and distress tolerance skills
-Making a plan for when you are in crisis
-Steps you can take to improve your mood
-Ways to increase motivation and create better habits
-Ways to improve your thinking
-Ways to increase and improve your relationships
-Communication skills
-How to be more accepting of yourself
Teens will have 10 total sessions of learning and discussing why certain situations affect their mood and their choices. They will learn strategies to notice and respond to disruptive moods in a helpful way and how to improve their relationship(s) with themselves, their friends, and their family.

Location: Virtual
Time: Tuesdays 4:30 pm – 5:45 pm, 75 minutes
Dates: beginning in August 2022 sometime
Number of meetings: 10 total
Who: 6-8th graders and 9-12th graders (one round of group will be for 6-8th graders, the next round will be for 9-12th graders)
Investment: The total investment in your teen is $400.00 (this equates to $40 per 75-minute session). Payment is not required upon registration, but payment will be required prior to the start of the group. Payment can be paid in full or broken up into 4 payments of $100.00. Your teen will not be able to continue to participate in sessions if payments are not made.
