Welcome! My name is Dr. Patrick McCain, DBH, LPC, LADC and I’m an online (telehealth/remote/virtual) mental health therapist. I am glad you are here. You know, sometimes it’s possible to suddenly be at a point in life that feels as if there is no way out. The feeling of being trapped in a place that appears as if no matter what you do it just doesn’t help. Along with this feeling, there is a flood of thoughts. Maybe you are thinking “how did I get here?” This feeling of hopelessness is temporary. This is the moment I like to show up in a person’s life and provide alternative solutions, hope, and direction to fulfillment. I believe that counseling is a shortcut to growth and a way to find hope. Hope that happiness is possible and that you can meet your innermost desires in this life. These things are all possible. They are possible because we are all worthwhile as human beings. Most of all you deserve it. The point you may in your life right now is not part of the journey you were meant to travel. So, if you are willing, take me through your journey and allow me to help you back on the road you deserve to be on – a road of love, hope, and joy.
I provide online therapy for residents of Oklahoma. I have experience providing online counseling for many different problems, including anxiety, depression, substance abuse, anger, relationship problems, cutting, suicidal thoughts, chronic pain, chronic illness, and trauma in teens and adults. I have learned to take a variety of approaches to help clients find healing, growth, and desired changes. My person-centered approach maintains the utmost positive regard for you and your needs. My cognitive approach will help challenge and change depressed or anxious thinking. My training as a Trauma-Focused therapist will help you understand why you react the way you do, identify triggers, and help you feel more in control when you are triggered by reminders of past trauma. When it comes to recovering from substances, you and I will use a variety of approaches that fit you – not a one-size-fits-all approach. I want to help you enjoy your life without craving and obsessing over substances.
I take pride in my journey to help others. I believe you will be the expert in the counseling process. I will not attempt to change you as a person or anything in your life. That kind of change is only decided by you. I will help you build on your strengths and work with you to find solutions in your time of stress. I will respect your decisions and maintain a non-judgmental attitude. Let me help you find your own solutions and way of coping with life struggles. The road to healing is long but rewarding. Change is possible, even if you are in virtual therapy. If you are interested in facing the challenge of change, then I will be dedicated to helping you.
